Xina Christel, a native of Santa Fe, NM, now calls Pagosa Springs home. Born into a family steeped in the arts of dance and music, she took her first steps onto the stage at the age of 5. Her journey through the world of dance has been as diverse as it has been passionate, embracing forms ranging from the fiery rhythms of Flamenco to the graceful precision of Ballet, from Breakdancing to the sultry allure of belly dance, from modern dance to the mesmerizing artistry of fire dance. Yet amidst this rich tapestry of movement, her heart finds its truest expression in the fluidity and emotional depth of Contemporary Dance.

Having graced the stages of numerous dance companies in her hometown of Santa Fe, NM, Xina now charts her own path as an independent artist. She brings her unique vision and skill to “The School of Movement,” becoming an integral part of the performing family in Pagosa Springs, where she continues to inspire and innovate with her artistry.

Calling all craft brew enthusiasts! Join The Springs Resort on Saturday, May 10th, 11th, 12th for the 9th annual Pints, Pools, and Paddles Craft Brew Fest! Indulge in the finest regional craft beers and soak up the serenity of 20 geothermal mineral pools.

The festival brings attendees the opportunity to help determine which brewery deserves recognition with the Favorite Brewery Award. Last year’s winner, Big Beaver Brewing Co. of Loveland, Colorado, will return to defend their title.

From 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday morning, Pints, Pools, and Paddles attendees are cordially invited to experience the 20 geothermal soaking pools! At 9:30 am, the Pagosa Paddle race begins. The whitewater race brings contestants through downtown Pagosa Springs and directly in front of The Springs Resort pools. Cheer on rafters, kayakers, and standup paddleboarders as they navigate buoys feet from your hot spring pool. At 4:00 pm, the race ends with a downriver parade.

When soaking ends at 3 pm, it’s time to indulge in an endless sampling of craft beer from Colorado and New Mexico, and beyond. Wrap up your experience with a bite to eat from one of the food trucks on site.

Ian Maksin returns to Pagosa Springs with his magic cello ready to share his soulful original music infused with flavors from the Middle East, West Africa, Mongolia and South America. He will also share some of the most recent additions to his repertoire amassed during his recent travels to Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Mexico and other countries. He will also sing some of his favorite songs in Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Polish, Italian and more.

Portion of the ticket and merch sales from this tour will be directed to benefit For Wellbeing, a humanitarian relief organization in Ukraine helping families and children in areas affected by war.

The Pagosa Community Initiative (PCI) is excited to announce its upcoming fundraiser, Second Chance Prom, to be held on Saturday, May 18th from 7 to 10pm at the Ross Aragon Community Center. Early bird tickets $35! VIP tables with party bus are available!

Lickety-Split Improv night! Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30 start to a one hour Improv show.  $10 at Pagosa Center for the Arts, 2313 Eagle Drive.

Lickety-Split Improv is a comedy and improvisation group founded by veteran performers Karisa Bruin and Scott Morehead, who both came up through the Chicago comedy scene and have spent the last 20+ years performing in improv and sketch theaters large and small in Chicago, New York, LA and beyond. Karisa made her Thingamajig debut in Karl Isberg’s Last Call at the Riptide in 2023 and both Karisa and Scott are acting in Thingamajig’s winter show, Tiny Beautiful Things. With training from the UCB, iO, the Second City, Magnet and Annoyance theaters, Lickety-Split brings high-level, professional comedy to Pagosa Springs.

Live music at Pagosa Springs Golf Club as part of the 19th Hole Concert Series, a benefit for local nonprofits. $10 cash cover. Cash bar with food available for purchase. No outside food or drinks allowed. No pets. 5:30-7:30pm.

The 19th Hole Concerts are community fundraisers that feature local musicians and local nonprofits each Thursday evening in June, 5:30-7:30 PM, at the Pagosa Springs Golf Club.

• June 6 – Jackson Mountain Ramblers, to benefit the Ruby M. Sisson Library Foundation.
• June 13, – Bo DePeña, to benefit The Cornerstone Project.
• June 20, – San Juan Mountain Boys to benefit the San Juan Backcountry Horsemen.
• June 27, – Bob Hemenger to benefit The Early Childhood Council of Archuleta County.

The cover charge is a $10 donation which supports the four nonprofits. Corporate sponsors cover event expenses, allowing all proceeds at the end of the series to be pooled and distributed equally to the featured organizations. The collaborative approach to the concerts is vital to their success. Last year’s concerts raised more than $2,600 for each participating organization.

15th Annual Pagosa Car Show takes place in 2024 on June 7th and 8th.

Friday night is the Street Party with cars on Lewis Street, live music, food and beverages from 5 – 8 p.m.

Saturday is the Show and Shine on Lewis Street with live music, food and beverages, activities for the kids, awards and much more! Show is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Aspen House Duathlon is Saturday, July 6th, 2024 on the Turkey Springs Trails!

Join Aspen House for an exciting day on our local trails! This running and biking event will take you through the forest and trails to compete with others and enjoy beautiful scenery along the way. By participating, you will help take us to the finish line of building Aspen House, a safe and supportive home for adults with developmental disabilities.

Join Seeds of Learning on August 17th, 2023 at Ross Aragon Community Center, pick out your Pagosa finest dress threads, dust off the bling, and mark your calendar to attend the star-studded event of the summer, the 7th annual Dancing with the Pagosa Stars!

On August 25th local Pagosa Celebrities will slip into their costumes and dance their hearts out, competing to raise critically needed funds for Seeds of Learning.

These generous celebrities are all people that are recognized as leaders in our community. They will partner with professional coaches from Pagosa and Durango to present a dazzling night of dancing and fun. You will be able to buy tickets to support your favorite dancers and vote as many times as you want with each vote costing $1! The celebrity raising the most money from ticket sales and voting will get bragging rights and take home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy at the end of the night!

Proceeds from this event go to Seeds of Learning, where a sliding scale tuition is offered to meet families at their income level. Approximately 80% of the students at Seeds are at a greatly reduced tuition fee and desperately deserve a helping hand in education to succeed in life. Your contributions will allow Seeds to continue offering the high quality affordable programming that our community has come to rely on for the past 25 years.
