In Pagosa Springs, there are three main internet service providers to business and residential customers - CenturyTel DSL, Rocky Mountain Cable Internet Services, and Skywerx Wireless internet. (See contact information below.)

The pros and cons:
Since CenturyTel is the only land-line based phone company in Pagosa Springs, they are probably the largest high-speed internet service provider. Their service is reliable and available in most areas of Pagosa Springs. Rates are from $25 to $45 per month, depending on the speed you want. They often run a special for $19.95 per month for a year, but find out how fast the speed is. Their lowest priced plan is not much faster than dial-up. For those of you who don't use or want a land-line and only use your cell phones, you can't get CenturyTel DSL without a landline account. CenturyTel does have 24/7 call-in support.

Rocky Mountain Cable now offers an internet only account so you don't have to be a cable television subscriber to receive their internet services. They run specials often for free equipment, free installation, and a fixed rate of $29.95 a month for the first year. ($39.95 after the first year.) Their service is comparable to the other providers, but only available where there is cable service, which is mainly Pagosa Lakes and the downtown area.

Skywerx wireless internet service is the best provider for those areas where there is no other land-based internet service, such as many areas of Aspen Springs. Their service is fast and reliable, but they charge a significant equipment and installation fee for their wireless service. Plans start at $40 per month for blazing speeds. Many people choose Skywerx internet service to use with their cellular service and don't even pay for a conventional land-line telephone. Also, they are a local company with excellent technical support.

Internet service is also offered by satellite companies such as Dish Network, DirecTV, and Wild Blue.
